We welcome well-behaved dogs (not puppies) in The Lodge and The Miller’s House only (although registered assistance dogs are, of course, permitted in any of the cottages). With beautiful countryside and excellent footpaths Mendham Mill provides a great base for visitors with dogs. However, with cattle in the water meadows, our own animals, other wildlife (and other guests) we do need guests to take particular care of their dogs. Each cottage has the local Ordnance Survey map which clearly shows all the footpaths so it is easy to identify good walks.
Visitors wishing to bring dogs must indicate this on the booking form. We have a dedicated a 2 acre field in the grounds where dogs can run freely. In all other communal areas of the grounds dogs must be kept under control and on leads.
To avoid mud damage we ask for dogs to be kept out of the river but there is an outside tap (and dog towels) to clean up after a muddy walk. We ask visitors to clear up after their dogs and we provide a dedicated bin for this purpose.
To avoid accidents or nuisance to other guests, dogs must not be left unattended in your cottage nor are they allowed into the bedrooms at any time. Most local pubs are dog friendly although the pub here in Mendham only allows dogs outside.
No other animals can be brought onto the property without prior permission.
